This will construct an intermodal hub in Ames, which will link public and private transportation modes (public transit, intercity bus carriers, regional airport shuttle services, carpools/vanpools, taxis, bicycle commuters and pedestrians) for Ames and the Central Iowa region, improving the livability of the Ames areas by linking various forms of transportation in the city so that residents, students, faculty and visitors can seamlessly transfer between modes of travel within the city and the region. The project also aims to spur transit oriented development near the facility which will increase the area s economic competitiveness by creating development opportunities in Ames and Central Iowa. Currently, the local transportation facilities are not connected and do not provide access to the private carrier services that are located more than two miles from public transit routes in an industrial area.
