Netherlands : Delta variant is advancing

The delta variant of the coronavirus is increasingly found in the Netherlands. The delta variant (previously Indian variant) is on the rise and is expected to have supplanted the alpha variant (British variant) as the dominant virus variant in the Netherlands during the course of this summer. We also see this picture in our neighboring countries.

In the Netherlands, the delta variant was first demonstrated in germination surveillance in April 2021 . Over the past few weeks we have seen this variant of the coronavirus SARS severe acute respiratory syndrome - CoV coronavirus -2 in germination surveillance. There are now several clusters in the Netherlands with the delta variant, in different settings and age groups.
