President Goodluck Jonathan said that the Federal Government would assist in the development of Port Harcourt City by uplifting the status of its residents.
Mr. Oronto Douglas represented the President who gave the assurance in Port Harcourt at a symposium to mark the centenary celebration of the city.
He said government acknowledged the unique place of the city in its development plans.
The Federal Government acknowledges Port Harcourt s unique place in our development.
We are resolved to continue to contribute to its development and to uplift the condition of its people and other Nigerians.
Jonathan said that the abandoned Port Harcourt Gauge Rail System would be restored as soon as the ongoing reconstruction of the eastern corridors...
