L'idéal du moi comme point de mire et le social en toile de fond: une compréhension de la dynamique sociopsychique de l'itinérance des jeunes adultes

Cette recherche qualitative a pour but de comprendre l'itinérance des jeunes adultes selon une perspective psychanalytique, tout en tenant compte de la dimension sociale associée à cette problématique. En particulier, l'originalité de notre démarche réside en l'alliance entre la compréhension de l'itinérance sur la base de la dynamique psychique (en termes de désirs, de représentations et de conflictualités) des jeunes rencontrés et un souci d'articuler cette dynamique avec le champ social. Il s'agit de s'inscrire dans la complémentarité entre ces deux points de vue apparemment fondamentaux dans l'explication de l'itinérance chez les jeunes.

Fondée sur le concept d'idéal du moi en tant que fil conducteur du questionnement entrepris, cette étude comporte trois volets: l'histoire infantile des jeunes itinérants (l'attachement aux figures parentales, le processus identificatoire et le rapport à l'autorité) est articulée avec l'expression dans le champ social (les comportements adoptés, les rapports sociaux et l'inscription sociale) et l'expérience psychique (l'image de soi, les sentiments et la projection de soi dans le futur) de la conflictualité cernée au niveau individuel. Le regroupement des sujets permet de concevoir différentes trajectoires sociopsychiques reflétant à la fois leur dynamique psychique, leur inscription particulière dans le champ social et l'incursion du milieu social dans leur parcours.

Vingt sujets, hommes et femmes ont été rencontrés par l'auteure lors d'entretiens semi-directifs. La méthodologie qualitative de cette recherche, fortement inspirée par la psychanalyse—non seulement en terme de référence théorique, mais également dans les modalités de la rencontre intersubjective—sous-tend la formulation d'inférences sur la dynamique psychique des sujets, en lien avec la spécificité de la rencontre avec le chercheur, le processus d'énonciation des sujets et l'analyse approfondie de leur discours. Une particularité de cette étude est donc l'intégration dans l'analyse des résultats, à la fois du contexte de l'entretien et du texte de celui-ci. Ainsi sont mises à profit la subjectivité des jeunes et la construction de leur histoire telle que révélée dans la rencontre chercheur-sujet, en parallèle avec l'analyse de l'objet désormais constitué par le verbatim de l'entretien. This qualitative research aims to understand the homelessness of young adults from a psychoanalytical perspective, while taking into account the social dimension associated with this problem. In particular, the originality of our approach lies in the alliance between the understanding of homelessness on the basis of the psychic dynamics (in terms of desires, representations and conflicts) of the young people encountered and a concern to articulate this dynamic with the social field. It is a matter of registering in the complementarity between these two apparently fundamental points of view in the explanation of homelessness among young people.

Based on the concept of the ego ideal as the common thread of the questioning undertaken, this study has three components: the childhood history of young homeless people (attachment to parental figures, the identification process and the relationship to authority) is articulated with the expression in the social field (the behaviors adopted, the social relations and the social inscription) and the psychic experience (the image of oneself, the feelings and the projection of oneself in the future) of the conflictuality identified at the individual level. The grouping of the subjects makes it possible to conceive different sociopsychic trajectories reflecting at the same time their psychic dynamics, their particular inscription in the social field and the incursion of the social environment in their course.

Twenty subjects, men and women, were met by the author during semi-structured interviews. The qualitative methodology of this research, strongly inspired by psychoanalysis—not only in terms of theoretical reference, but also in the modalities of the intersubjective encounter—underlies the formulation of inferences on the psychic dynamics of the subjects, in connection with the specificity of the meeting with the researcher, the process of enunciation of the subjects and the in-depth analysis of their discourse. A particularity of this study is therefore the integration in the analysis of the results, both of the context of the interview and of the text thereof. Thus, the subjectivity of young people and the construction of their history as revealed in the researcher-subject encounter are put to good use, in parallel with the analysis of the object now constituted by the verbatim of the interview.
